The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Dust Storm Warning for...
  Southwestern Luna County in southwestern New Mexico...

* Until 1215 PM MST.

* At 919 AM MST, an area of blowing dust was impacting Interstate 10
  near Deming and along State Highway 11 south of Deming to the
  International Border and along State Highway 9 west of Columbus.

  HAZARD...Near zero visibility with strong winds up to 55 mph.

  SOURCE...Emergency Management.

  IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.

* This includes Interstate 10 in New Mexico between mile markers 61
  and 89.

Locations impacted include...
Spring Canyon State Park, Carzalia Valley, Hermanas, Gage, Columbus,
Sunshine, and Deming.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your
foot off the brake.

Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!

There is no safe place on a highway when a dust storm hits.
Visibility can be lost immediately, making it difficult or impossible
to slow down and avoid stopped vehicles. Delay travel, or safely exit
the highway before the dust storm arrives.
