DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 AM PDT (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Octave was located near latitude 15.4 North, longitude 116.2 West. Octave is moving toward the east near 12 mph (19 km/h). A gradual turn toward the northeast with an increase in forward speed is expected later today. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight weakening is expected during the next day or so, and Octave is forecast to dissipate on Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
