Tropical Weather Discussion
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
2205 UTC Mon Dec 1 2025

Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
2000 UTC.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...

The monsoon trough extends from 10N84W to 07N97W. The ITCZ
stretches from 07N97W to 12N113W then resumes from 11N126W to
beyond 09N140W. Scattered moderate to isolated strong convection
is from 04N to 10N E of 97W.

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...

Fresh to locally strong gap winds funneling through the Chivela
Pass are impacting the Gulf of Tehuantepec. A surface trough W
of the Revillagigedo Islands continues to generate showers and
thunderstorms mainly from 14N to 22N between 110W and 116W.
Moderate N winds are occurring from the mouth of the Gulf of
California SW to the Revillagigedo Islands. Moderate NW winds
have also developed in the northern Gulf of California. Elsewhere,
a weak pressure gradient supports mainly gentle winds and
moderate seas, except for slight seas in the central and
southern Gulf of California.

For the forecast, fresh N to NE winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec
will pulse to strong late Tue into Wed morning. A trough just SW
of the Revillagigedo Islands will meander near the islands
through Tue night, bringing thunderstorms. Moderate long-period
NW swell will reach the Baja California Norte offshore waters
Tue, then subside Thu. Otherwise, moderate to fresh N winds will
pulse in the northern Gulf of California into Fri night.

...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA,
AND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...

Surface ridging extending across the northern Caribbean supports
fresh NE winds in the Gulf of Papagayo. South of the monsoon
trough and between Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, winds are
gentle to moderate from the S to SW. Elsewhere, light to gentle
winds prevail. Moderate seas encompass the entire region.

For the forecast, fresh gap winds will pulse nightly this week
in the Papagayo region. Moderate or lighter winds and moderate
seas are expected elsewhere through Fri night.

...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...

Low pressure of 1016 mb is near 25N135W with a stationary front
trailing from this low to 22N134W over to 21N140W. Fresh E winds
are noted N of the low along with rough seas. A surface trough to
the SW of the Revillagigedo Islands continues to generate
showers and thunderstorms mainly from 14N to 22N between 110W and
115W. There is a zone of moderate to fresh NE winds NW of the
trough from 14N to 22N between 115W and 123W. The rest of the
tropical eastern Pacific is under the influence of modest
ridging, leaving winds mainly gentle, and seas moderate.

For the forecast, the low pressure and associated front will
dissipate tonight. Large NW swell will continue to spread
southeastward across the NW subtropical and tropical waters
tonight. Rough seas will reach E to 120W and S to 09N Tue and
Tue night, before decaying into late week.
