Day 1 Fire Weather Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0210 AM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

Valid 111200Z - 121200Z

...Synopsis...
An amplified large-scale trough will move eastward across the
western CONUS, resulting in a deepening surface low over the
northern Plains and lee troughing southward along the remainder of
the High Plains. In response, southerly surface winds will
strengthen across much of the Plains.

...Eastern Dakotas and Red River Valley...
Along the eastern edge of the returning boundary-layer moisture,
around 20 mph sustained southerly surface winds will overlap 25-35
percent RH during the afternoon. Given dry antecedent conditions,
elevated fire-weather conditions are possible.

...Southern Plains...
While southerly surface winds will be stronger closer to the lee
troughing over the High Plains, at least 15 mph sustained southerly
surface winds combined with 25-35 percent RH atop dry vegetation
will favor locally elevated fire-weather concerns across parts of
northwest TX into southwest OK during the afternoon.
