...Accumulating Snow Expected During the Friday Morning Commute...

A band of precipitation is expected to develop late tonight,
lasting into the morning hours Friday. This band, starting out as
rain or a rain/snow mix will turn to all snow along and north of
the Highway 30 corridor by sunrise Friday. Although snowfall
totals should remain relatively light, between one to three inches
in total, the heaviest of this snow should come during the Friday
morning commute time. Snowfall rates of up to a half inch per
hour during the commute could lead to a coating of snow on roads
once temperatures cool to near or below freezing. Also, some
reduced visibilities are possible in the wet, heavy snow. Travel
conditions should improve near the end of the commute, around 9 AM
and after.

If planning to travel Friday morning, be prepared for these
travel impacts! Give yourself plenty of braking distance, and as
always, make sure to take it slower if you encounter snow-
covered roads.
