Subject: Soliciting Comments through November 2, 2024 on the
Discontinuation of the Max/Min Temperature and Precipitation Table
Product (RTP) for all NWS Central Region Offices

The Max/Min Temperature and Precipitation Table Product (RTP) is
a text product providing the maximum/minimum temperatures and
precipitation totals for a sub-state region, an entire state, or
a multi-state region. The RTP table is used by national centers
and local media. Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs), in coordination
with their local users and Regional Headquarters, will determine
the regional extent of this product and which WFOs will issue sub-
state, multi-state, or state product(s).

The information contained in the RTP duplicates information
contained in other text products as well as various websites and
NWS application programming interfaces (API).

WFO local products providing the data contained in the RTP
product include:

* PNS Text Products for summaries of temperatures and
precipitation during significant weather events (Public
  Information Statement)
* LSR Text Products for event-driven rainfall and snowfall
  reports
* RER Text Products for record event reporting (Record Event
  Report)
* DSM Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) Daily Summary
  messages
* CLI Text Products for routine climate reports (Daily Climate
  Report)
* RR3 Text Products for cooperative observations
  (Hydrometeorological Data Report)
* MTR Text Products for routine METAR observations with
temperature and precipitation data. Alternative websites
providing the data contained in the RTP product include:
  - NOAA Online Weather Data
  - https://www.weather.gov/climate?wfo=xxx where "xxx" is the
    Weather Forecast Office (WFO) identifier
  - NWS Weather API:
    https://www.weather.gov/documentation/services-web-api
  - Aviation Weather Center API:

The weather enterprise and private sector companies may also
provide tailored services.
