.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 218 AM CDT Wed Oct 15 2025

An upper level ridge of high pressure over the Plains will be pushed
eastward as an upper level low ejects northeastward from the Great
Basin today to south central Canada by Friday. This will allow lee
troughing to strengthen across eastern Colorado bringing strong
southerly winds to western Kansas through tomorrow. Dry conditions
are expected through tomorrow afternoon with a slight chance of
storms across our western zones tomorrow afternoon as a upper level
shortwave creates enough lift across west central and northwestern
Kansas. If storms do form tomorrow afternoon the strongest will be
capable of producing large hail and damaging winds. Otherwise expect
some high clouds today through tomorrow. As for temperatures, high
will soar into the low 80s today and around 80 degrees tomorrow.
Lows will generally be in the upper 50s tonight and range from the
upper 40s west to low 60s east tomorrow night.

As the trough spreads onto the plains Friday with lowering heights,
the pressure gradients will collapse, with much lighter winds. A
fantastic fall Friday will result, with light winds and comfortable
temperatures in the 70s. Models continue to trend weaker with a weak
dry cold front passage Saturday, with light north winds and about 5
degrees of cooling.
