.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 222 AM CDT Sun Oct 6 2024

Today will feel very pleasant compared to yesterday with much cooler
highs. Mainly 70s is expected across southwest Kansas. Low 80s cannot
be ruled out across the lower terrain of the SE counties (Clark through
Barber). Breezy NE winds will prevail today in the wake of an earlier
passing cool front. A high pressure center will build southward across
the FA this evening and winds should go light by dusk. As drier air
advects in, we do expect cooler lows heading into Monday morning
with values mainly in the 40s.

The next business week is looking to be warm and dry. No major synoptic
systems are expected to pass across the state during this period.
The net result is above normal highs and a dry forecast continuing
for days and days. No major strong fronts are expected next week,
so temperatures will not change much between each day. Highs mainly
in the 80s and lows in the 50s are expected for each day. Cannot
rule out highs around 90F Wednesday and Friday, however, 80s look
to rule throughout the forecast period. Unfortunately, any rain chances
looks unlikely through the business week and possibly even into next
weekend.
