Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southeast Wyoming/Western Nebraska
National Weather Service CHEYENNE WY
952 PM MDT Sun Sep 29 2024

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT MONDAY

.UPDATE...
Poor recoveries early this evening with gusty winds have resulted
in the extension of the Red Flag Warning across the Pine Ridge in
east-central Wyoming through the northern Nebraska panhandle
overnight tonight into Monday afternoon. Additionally, Fire
Weather Watches for Monday afternoon have been upgraded to Red
Flag Warnings for much of southeast Wyoming and western Nebraska
with winds still expecting to shift out of the north early Monday
morning.

.PREV DISCUSSION...
Critical to near critical fire weather conditions are expected
through mid-week. A dry cold front pushing across southeast
Wyoming and western Nebraska on Monday will lead to cooler
temperatures on Monday and Tuesday with breezy conditions. The
combination of low relative humidity and gusty winds will likely
lead to critical fire weather conditions on both days. Tuesday and
Wednesday look to be the driest days with minimum RHs falling
into the single digits. Westerly winds Tuesday night will lead to
very poor overnight humidity recoveries. Widespread gusty winds on
Wednesday will lead to critical fire weather conditions across
much of the CWA.
