Survey Summary:
The National Weather Service in State College has confirmed an
EF-1 Tornado along North Fork Rd in Elk County occurring on Sunday
Mar 16, 2025. Maximum winds are estimated at 100 mph.

The tornado damage began on North Fork Rd just north of West
Creek Road in Saint Marys at around 2:22 PM EDT on Mar 16. The
tornado was on the ground for less than one minute, but downed
hundreds of trees as it moved approximately 0.5 mile toward the
NNE before dissipating. The damage was concentrated within a swath
about 200 yards wide.

Local residents impacted by the tornado noted that N Fork Rd was
blocked by downed trees for several days. Many of the trees were
pine, spruce, and hemlock. Most of the trees were uprooted, but
several were snapped. Utility poles were also downed. One resident
noted that he had a window blown in and a barn roof partially
lifted.

We thank the Civil Air Patrol and PEMA for sharing imagery
critical to the survey. We also extend our gratitude to the local
residents who shared their experiences with us.
