.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1212 AM CDT Mon Aug 18 2025

The pattern is expected to become wetter over the course of this
week. This is due to some passing shortwaves and associated
vorticity riding the periphery of the ridge which will combine with
the sea breeze each day. PoPs will be low to begin the week around
20% before increasing to around 45-60% through the remainder of the
period. The best chances for convection will be on during the latter
portions of the week as a midlevel disturbance approaches the region
(Thursday,Friday,Saturday). Highs are expected to be in the upper
90s to lower 105s with expected heat indices around 110. Highs will
get below 100 degrees finally as rain chances increase giving a
slight relief to the region beginning Friday. Otherwise, continue to
practice heat safety if you are planning on spending extended
periods outside. Remember to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks.
More heat safety information can be found at weather.gov/heat.

.AVIATION...
(12Z TAFS)
Issued at 544 AM CDT Mon Aug 18 2025

Fog is very patchy this morning and fluxuating from MVFR to IFR.
Given the light winds and clear skies, there remains a potential
for LIFR conditions for a brief period until 14z at ALI and VCT
terminals. Then expect VFR conditions for the remainer of the day
with mostly clear skies and light southeast winds. Diurnal gusts
near 25 knots are expected out west this evening. Isolated showers
and thunderstorms will develop along the sea breeze over the
Victoria Crossroads area late this afternoon and should move
southwestward. Storms will dissipate with the loss of heating
this evening. Expect broken cirrus deck over the region tonight
and increasing moisture to limit fog potential tonight.

.MARINE...
Issued at 1212 AM CDT Mon Aug 18 2025

A persisting light to gentle breeze (BF 2-3) can be expected
this week. Rain chances will return Tuesday with a medium chance
(45-60%) for each afternoon through the end of the work week.
