For the Low Water Advisory, abnormally low water levels. * WHERE...The nearshore waters of Lake Erie from Reno Beach to Vermilion OH, and the open waters of Lake Erie from Reno Beach to Vermilion OH. * WHEN...For the Gale Warning, until 4 PM EST this afternoon. For the Low Water Advisory, until 10 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Below normal water levels will result in hazardous navigating conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At 9:18 AM EST, the water level at Toledo was 6.9 inches below low water datum. The critical mark for safe navigation is 5 inches below low water datum. Water levels in the western basin of Lake Erie are forecast to fall to almost 4 feet below low water datum by this early to mid-afternoon. Water levels should then rebound to above the critical mark by this late evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions.
