...NEAR RECORD HEAT THIS AFTERNOON...

Summer has made a return to the South Carolina Lowcountry and
Southeast Georgia as strong high pressure prevails. High
temperatures this afternoon are expected to peak into the mid 90s
away from the beaches. These temperatures combined with moderate
levels of humidity will produce heat index values of 98 to 102
degrees this afternoon. While this level of heat is not unusual for
the area, this is the first real multi-day heat episode of the year.
Be sure to take extra precautions if working outside today or if
residing in a home of business without air conditioning.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
