Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina
and East Central Georgia
National Weather Service Columbia SC
509 AM EDT Mon Jul 1 2024

.DISCUSSION...
A surface front will move just off to the south of the forecast
area through the day today. Temperatures will be cooler both today
and Tuesday behind the front. Although drier air will move into the
region, there will still be enough moisture around for isolated to
scattered showers and storms each afternoon this week. A widespread
wetting rain is not expected this week despite the convective
activity. Because of this, fire weather concerns will continue to
increase through the week, especially with the Independence Day
celebrations coming up.

Both the heat and humidity, along with much higher heat index values,
will occur beginning Wednesday, lasting through next weekend.

Fog potential for tonight: Patchy fog possible.
