North Fork Edisto River At Orangeburg affecting Orangeburg County. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don`t drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Residents and those with interests near the river should monitor rising water levels and take action if necessary. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. Downstream from the Highway 301 bridge, some roads off Chiquita street near the river begin to flood. At 10.0 feet, Farmland and lowlands along Highway 301 near Orangeburg become flooded at stages above 10 ft. At 11.0 feet, The river exceeds levee diking at stages above 11 ft. Large areas in the city of Orangeburg will be flooded. At 12.0 feet, Secondary roads near Orangeburg become flooded at stages above 12 ft. Extensive farmland and lowlands downstream from Orangeburg will be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:00 AM EST Thursday the stage was 9.3 feet. - Bankfull stage is 7.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.7 feet this evening.
