...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of central South Carolina, including the
  following counties, Fairfield, Lexington, Newberry and Richland.

* WHEN...Until 1100 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 942 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected
    to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2.5
    inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Columbia, West Columbia, Cayce, Irmo, VC Summer Nuclear
    Station, St. Andrews, Jenkinsville, Monticello, Ballentine,
    Harbison State Forest, Blair, Columbia International
    University, Riverbanks Zoo, West Columbia Riverwalk, Chapin,
    Peak, White Rock, Lighthouse Marina, Lake Murray Marina and
    Upper Richland Fire Station.
  - This includes the following highways...
    Interstate 126 between mile markers 0 and 3.
    Interstate 26 between mile markers 90 and 109...and
    between mile markers 117 and 120.
    Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 63 and
    68.
    Interstate 77 between mile markers 1 and 2.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. Never drive through a
flooded roadway or around barricades. Turn around, don`t drown.
