An active weather pattern with systems arriving every day or two is in place for the next week to 10 days. These systems will bring periods of low elevation rain, foothills rain/snow, and mountain snow. Wind season has arrived and will see periods of gusty to strong winds over the western foothills in between and ahead of the weather systems, spreading into the plains mainly in the daytime hours. Today will be one of the windy days with west to northwest winds gusting 20 to 40 mph, Strongest over the western foothills early in the day, strongest over the eastern plains mid afternoon. A cold front tonight will bring mainly light showers, but southern foothills and mountains will see better precipitation accumulations (0.20-0.40in) with a dusting of snow in the foothills and several inches of snow for elevations above 7500 feet.
