.DISCUSSION...
A cold front will continue to pass through the region this
morning with much drier air filtering in behind. Afternoon minimum
relative humidity values will lower beginning today towards 40%
across the St. Lawrence Valley and the wider valleys of Vermont.
Thursday looks to be the driest of the week with RHs in the
30-40% range in northern New York, with 35-50% in Vermont where
some moisture could hang on a bit longer. In addition to the
lower RHs, north/northwest winds Wednesday will be breezy to gusty
with wind gusts 20 to 25 knots in Vermont across the ridges and
Champlain Valley; slightly weaker around 15 knots in northern New
York. Thursday will feature similar gusty winds areawide, with
perhaps slightly higher winds than Wednesday, up to 30 mph in the
Champlain Valley. Thursday presents the best day to watch for any
fire weather concerns, particularly in the St. Lawrence and
Champlain Valley with the combined lower RHs, and gusty winds.
