...Near Critical Fire Weather Conditions Today...
.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns will be heightened today with minimum
relative humidity values in the 25-35% range, with the lowest
numbers in the Champlain and Connecticut River Valleys. Southerly
winds will be gusty as well, with values in the 15-25 mph range
for most areas. However, gusts up to 35 mph at times are possible
in the north to south oriented valleys and far northern
Adirondacks. These meteorological factors will combine with recent
dryness across most areas. Wetting rain from showers and embedded
thunderstorms will arrive in the St. Lawrence Valley early
Thursday afternoon and reach Vermont by tonight. Winds will
gradually diminish with the onset of precipitation. Mostly dry
conditions will exist for tomorrow but relative humidities will be
much higher than today. A few isolated showers are possible but
they would be very limited. Another round of gusty winds will
occur Friday afternoon and evening, but this time they will be
more southwesterly. More steady rain should move in sometime on
Saturday.
