At 632 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 16 miles northwest of Bustamante to 6 miles north of Zapata County Airport to Las Palmas to 10 miles southwest of Falcon Mesa. Movement was south at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Torrential rains along US 83 and SR 16 will reduce visibility below one half mile for up to 15 minutes in any one location, and water may pond in poor drainage locations. Locations impacted include... Zapata, Bustamante, Medina, Zapata High School, Zapata County Fire Department, Zapata Middle School, Siesta Shores, Zapata County Public Library, Las Palmas, and Falcon Mesa. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding.
