...WIDESPREAD FOG ON THE BARRIER ISLAND...

Satellite imagery and in-situ cameras indicate that widespread fog
is affecting the barrier island and the City of South Padre Island
at this time. This fog is the result of warm and moist air moving
over the much cooler nearshore waters. The fog is forecast to
persist until shortly before midnight. At that time, the passage
of a cold front will increase winds from the north and blow the
fog out to sea.

For the next several hours, motorists on South Padre Island are
urged to reduce speed, use low beam headlights, and avoid
following other vehicles too closely. Be sure to watch for
pedestrians crossing the street, especially those not using
designated pedestrian crosswalks.
