RELOCATION OF THE RIVER FORECAST POINT AT THE MERRIMACK RIVER AT
HAVERHILL DOWNSTREAM TO THE MERRIMACK RIVER STREAM GAUGE AT BATES
BRIDGE NEAR HAVERHILL

EFFECTIVE TUESDAY JANUARY 7TH 2025, THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
(NWS) IN NORTON MASSACHUSETTS PLANS TO RELOCATE THE RIVER FORECAST
POINT AT THE MERRIMACK RIVER AT HAVERHILL, MA (HVRM3) DOWNSTREAM
TO THE USGS STREAM GAUGE AT BATES BRIDGE (BATM3) NEAR HAVERHILL,
MA ON THE MERRIMACK RIVER.

AS A RESULT OF FORECAST SERVICES BEING MOVED DOWNSTREAM, THE
FLOOD STAGES ASSOCIATED WITH HAVERHILL, MA MERRIMACK RIVER
FORECAST POINT HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO THE FOLLOWING.

ACTION STAGE - 10 FEET
MINOR FLOOD - 11 FEET
MODERATE FLOOD - 14 FEET
MAJOR FLOOD - 16 FEET

IMPACTS ASSOCIATED WITH EACH OF THE FLOOD STAGES FOR AREAS ALONG
THE MERRIMACK RIVER NEAR HAVERHILL, MA REMAIN UNCHANGED.

BEGINNING ON TUESDAY JANUARY 7TH, 2025 OBSERVATIONS, FORECASTS
AND FLOOD IMPACTS FOR THE NEW FORECAST POINT AT BATES BRIDGE WILL
BE AVAILABLE ON THE NWS NATIONAL WATER PREDICTION SERVICE WEBPAGE
