Several challenges with the TAFs through Monday morning. Weak
Denver Cyclone has set up this morning but wind speeds are
generally less than 7kt. Should see a more pronounced turn to the
north through 15z, followed by a stronger push of N/NE by late
morning or early afternoon. Guidance is split close to 50/50 if
this will be cool/moist enough for stratus development. FG/stratus
is already well established in SE WY/SW NE, but unusually low
confidence in how that evolves over the next several hours.
The morning stratus potential will have implications on
instability and resulting TSRA potential this afternoon. Model
soundings have LCLs in the 020-035 range so we may see some MVFR
cigs with any showers or storms that develop.
Better agreement for this evening and tonight that showers will
linger near the terminals, along with lowering cigs. Again still
quite a bit of uncertainty if we drift into IFR/LIFR cigs or if a
slightly higher (MVFR) deck develops instead. Have opted on the
more aggressive side through the end of the TAF period given a
better model consensus during this period.

KCOS and KPUB..VFR conditions are expected this morning, with MVFR
conditions in thunderstorms, low ceilings, and mist expected later
in the forecast period. Afternoon thunderstorms are likely within
the vicinity of KCOS this afternoon and into this evening. A period
of lighter rain followed by low ceilings and mist is expected
tonight into Monday morning.
KALS..Showers and thunderstorms are likely today. If any storms move
over station, expected brief reductions in visibility and ceilings,
especially between 22Z and 04Z.

Showers have lingered across southeast Utah, and mid level
clouds continue to rotate across the entire region. Some
clearing this morning will give way to widespread showers and
thunderstorms this afternoon. Most terminals have a good chance
of seeing thunderstorms at least in vicinity, if not directly
impacting the terminal locations. KCNY, KTEX, KGUC, and KDRO
have the highest chances of seeing direct impacts from gusty,
erratic winds, lightning, and heavy rain at the airport. After
00z, expect activity to gradually transition to more stratiform
rain showers, with diminishing threats of heavy rain and
lightning. Winds will be light and terrain driven when not
influenced by convection. VFR conditions will prevail, but drops
into MVFR/IFR with heavy rain will be possible.

.AVIATION...KSLC...The terminal will remain on the northern fringe
of an area of moisture spreading into northern Utah this morning. As
such on occasional shower or two is possible through the morning
with VFR conditions prevailing. There is a 10-15 percent chance of a
thunderstorm producing lightning and gusty winds in the vicinity of
the terminal between 16-19Z. Conditions will improve through much of
the afternoon. Southerly winds will prevail this morning, turning to
the northwest by 19Z. However passing showers this morning may
result in variable wind directions at times.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Afternoon showers and
thunderstorms will again develop across much of the region this
afternoon, which may impact area terminals with gusty outflow winds,
lightning, and brief MVFR visibility within heavier rainfall. Away
from these storms, VFR conditions with terrain driven winds can be
expected.

VFR conditions prevail through the period. Increasing moisture from
the southwest brings increasing middle and upper level clouds, as
well as shower and thunderstorm chances. These chances will
primarily be be around KBPI, KPNA, and KRKS today, with lesser
chances elsewhere. Currently, chances look to be best at KRKS, where
a PROB30 group is included. Smoke will also be around again today,
coming from various wildfires around the area.

Northwest flow aloft will continue, while another cold front
moves southward across the terminals on Sunday.
Wyoming TAFS...For Rawlins and Laramie, scattered to broken
clouds from 5000 to 12000 feet occur until 00Z, then light rain will
develop after 00Z, reducing visibilities to 4 miles with
ceilings from 2500 to 4000 feet, and areas of fog at Laramie after 06Z,
reducing visibilities to 1 mile and ceilings to 1500 feet.
For Cheyenne, ceilings will range from 800 to 1500 feet, with
light rain and fog developing after 01Z, reducing visibilities
to 3 miles.
Nebraska TAFS...Scattered to broken clouds will range from
5000 to 8000 feet, with ceilings from 1500 to 5000 feet at
Scottsbluff and Sidney after 12Z to 15Z, with light rain and fog
at Sidney after 01Z, reducing visibilities to 4 miles. Fog will occur
at Scottsbluff, Sidney and Alliance after 06Z, reducing visibilities
to 1 to 2 miles and ceilings to 800 to 1500 feet.

Showers and thunderstorms bring a deck of stratus across western
and north central Nebraska this morning, bringing low end VFR
conditions across most of the region. Although showers and
thunderstorms move out of the area this morning, the stratus is
expected to remain, dropping conditions across southwest Nebraska
down to MVFR. Across north central Nebraska, once the stratus moves
out, conditions remain VFR. Winds remain light this afternoon,
generally under 10 knots. Additional showers and thunderstorms are
expected this evening across southwest Nebraska, however, confidence
in impacts at KLBF are low at this time, so will omit from TAFs
for now.

Scattered storms continue across the region this morning, with
another cluster potentially impacting KMCK with a brief period
of reduced ceilings and visibility. Storms look to stay east of

either terminal and VFR conditions. Tonight, storms will
increase in coverage with impacts to both terminals likely
and lowering ceilings overnight.

VFR conditions are expected to be the primary flight conditions for
all sites through the TAF period. Most of the period will see
showers near or at all sites later on Sunday. Current forecast is
some weak showers will descend from the north with some VCTS
currently near HYS. This first round is likely only to affect DDC
and HYS if at all. Later more widespread rain is expected to move
out of Colorado reaching every site by around 5-7Z. Some uncertainty
remains on exactly where, when, and how intense these showers get.
The TAFs try to capture the big picture of the pattern. VFR is
currently forecast for the entirety of the period, but occasional
drops in visibility or ceilings may create periods of lowered flight
conditions especially in the last few hours of the TAF period.
