Denver/Boulder Aviation Discussion
Issued at 2339 UTC Monday, June 30, 2025

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS through 00Z Wednesday/...
Issued at 539 PM MDT Mon Jun 30 2025
Scatter/broken cumulus clouds at around 6000 feet to linger
through about 03Z before they dissipate. Thunderstorms so far have
been confined to the higher terrain southwest of Denver. Storms
are expected to stay well south of DEN, but there still is a
slight chance (10-20%) outflow from the current convection could
produce a brief shower or storm through 03Z.
Light east to southeast winds to slowly transition to the south to
southwest after 06Z. For Tuesday, southerly winds become weak by
16-18Z. There will be a better chance for showers/storms Tuesday
afternoon with about a 30 percent chance about 21Z. However,
outflow winds will be likely.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z WEDNESDAY/...
Issued at 524 PM MDT Mon Jun 30 2025
The main forecast challenges are through mid to late this
evening, with the current shower and isolated thunderstorm
development still occurring during this time. Highest chances
for this development is at ALS and have continued mention in
the TAFs. With the likelihood for thunder lessening, have gone
prevailing with the showers and only have a PROB30 for thunder.
Did lessen the time frame, but could see thunder ending sooner
than currently forecast. For COS and PUB, confidence is lower
for showers and thunderstorms to move across the terminals,
however, did maintain mention in the TAFs given the development
just to the west. After these showers and storms depart this
evening, expect the period to remain dry at all sites.
Increasing south southeast winds then anticipated during the day
on Tuesday.

Issued at 1126 AM MDT Mon Jun 30 2025
Convection will continue firing over the higher terrain this
afternoon with a few showers and thundestorms possible. Central
and southern portions of the CWA are favored for this
convection. Put PROB30 groups in for KASE and KEGE where chances
are highest to see some storms. The biggest concern will remain
gusty outflow winds. Convection will die down towards sunset.
Even with the showers and storms, VFR will remain in place for
the next 24 hours.

.AVIATION /18Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z TUESDAY/...

Salt Lake City Aviation Discussion
Issued at 2147 UTC Monday, June 30, 2025

.AVIATION...KSLC...Predominantly VFR conditions are expected to
persist today and tonight with typical evening wind shift around 1-
4Z. Cumulus development to the southeast over the Oquirrhs and
adjacent ranges will send mid-level clouds over the terminal this
afternoon/evening, but otherwise no impacts. Higher thunderstorm
chances are expected tomorrow, bringing a threat of gusty and
erratic winds in the afternoon and evening. The chance of a
thunderstorm directly impacting the terminal or vicinity is
currently less than 30%. Meanwhile, there is uncertainty in
tomorrow`s wind shift; current thinking is south winds will prevail
until erratic outflow winds arrive in the afternoon.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Increasing moisture will
support greater coverage of thunderstorms tomorrow, particularly
over the higher terrain east of I-15, though these are unlikely to
impact flight categories. Rather, isolated gusty outflow winds of up
to 40-50 mph remain the primary threat. Additionally, isolated
locations in southern Utah (e.g. BCE) will again be impacted by
wildfire smoke. For those areas, early morning stability will again
allow for smoke to drive localized IFR conditions through ~15z.

.AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z TUESDAY/...
Issued at 335 PM MDT Mon Jun 30 2025
VFR conditions and light winds (10kts or less) will occur through
the TAF period. Skies will remain mostly clear, with a band of FEW
to SCT high clouds passing over and shifting west to east this
evening and overnight. Clear skies return by sunrise. Tuesday
afternoon, showers and thunderstorms become more likely (20 to 30%
chances) for most terminals west of the Divide as well as KCOD. For
other terminals, chances in any shower or thunderstorm impacts are
less than 20%. PROB30 groups have been included for those terminals
with the most likely chances for shower and thunderstorm activity
Tuesday afternoon. Gusty outflow winds would be the main threat with

Clear skies prevail this afternoon across the area. Gusty
southeast winds will continue through the evening at KLAR.
Expect winds further east to rotate around to southerly this
evening ahead of a modest nocturnal low-level jet event tonight
in the Nebraska panhandle. Gusty southerly winds are possible at
times during the night, but expect to find LLWS during periods
where the surface winds are light. Winds will mix down to the
surface consistently at all terminals by around mid morning
Tuesday. Expect another round of scattered showers and
thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening, which is currently
handled with PROB30 groups at all terminals.

Issued at 530 PM MDT Mon Jun 30 2025
Numerous SHRA/TS over the region late this afternoon will give
way to areas of light rain with embedded TS overnight, mainly
along and east of the central mt chain. Moist east winds across
eastern NM overnight will allow widespread MVFR low cigs to
develop with pockets of IFR along the east slopes of the central
mt chain. The NBM probability for fog with visibility <5 miles in
below 10% across eastern NM. If any were to form it would favor
the Roswell area. Widespread cloud cover may persist well into
Tuesday morning and perhaps even the afternoon across much of the
eastern plains. This cloud cover and cooler temps may limit the
amount of instability for storms. Western NM will have greater
sunshine and be able to destabilize sooner by late morning. This
activity across the west will be capable of producing very strong
outflow winds and blowing dust like was observed this afternoon.
