VFR through the TAF period, though low confidence in the wind
forecast.
Well defined shear zone/boundary noted by TDEN and various surface
observations, sitting from north of APA to KDEN/KCFO. Expecting
that boundary to drift over DEN in the next hour or so before
retreating back. Drainage will be slower to develop this evening
as a result.
Similar uncertainty with winds tonight into Wednesday morning, as
guidance tries to advect a moist airmass back towards the
terminals. The HRRR/RAP/3km NAM all get the edge of that airmass
very close to DEN, and BUFKIT profiles would favor either dense
fog or very low stratus near 12z. Added VCFG into the TAF but will
need to watch trends closely.
Forecast confidence doesn`t improve on Wednesday as strong
southerly flow aloft will again attempt to mix down. Higher
confidence at APA, and lowest confidence at DEN where there are
hints of another boundary setting up near the field. Guidance has
also trended towards a little more convection in the afternoon,
further muddying the forecast and potential timing of the stronger
southerly flow.

KALS: Gusty south-southwest winds will persist into early evening,
with low (around 30%) chances of showers at the terminal as rain
continues over the higher terrain nearby. Beyond that, breezy south
winds and cigs hovering around the high end of MVFR will last
through this forecast period. Currently, showers are expected in the
area Wednesday morning, but chances are too low to include any
precip at the terminal for now. Left as VCSH to account for
scattered showers in the Valley.
KCOS: Gusty south-southeast winds will last for a few hours into
this evening, weakening overnight. Cigs are expected to drop towards
the high end of MVFR overnight. Early Wednesday morning, mainly
between 09 and 15Z, southeast surface winds are expected to bring
patchy stratus into the area, which may impact the terminal for
periods of time. VFR conditions are expected to return by mid-
morning, with gusty south winds kicking in by 18Z.
KPUB: Gusty southerly winds will last for a few more hours,
weakening and becoming more variable overnight. VFR conditions
are expected through at least mid-morning on Wednesday, with
lowering cigs (still VFR) and gusty southeast winds picking back
up by afternoon.

VFR conditions are in place with mid to high level clouds
drifting through and only very isolated weak showers and
storms some of the terrain. Plenty of mositure remains in place
and this should trigger another batch of shower and thunderstorm
activity overnight and through much of tomorrow. Some of the
storms in the south tomorrow could contain hail and gusty winds
with KDRO the most probable terminal for these threats.
Otherwise strong winds aloft will lead to localized LLWS then
gusty afternoon winds as they mix to the ground. Showers and
storms will also tap into this winds and bring a threat of
gusty winds to most TAF sites in the mid to late afternoon.

.AVIATION...KSLC...Scattered showers and thunderstorms will last
much of the TAF period, with some capable moderate to heavy rain.
VFR conditions will prevail with dry conditions, with MVFR
conditions with stronger showers or thunderstorms. Winds will be
relatively light, but with varying directions with showers and
thunderstorms. South winds are likely after 18Z, with gusts around
25 knots.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Scattered showers and
thunderstorms through 18Z will be capable of locally moderate or
heavy rain. Showers and thunderstorms will track from south to north
for the afternoon, bringing rain to southwest Wyoming and northern
Utah with largely dry conditions further south. VFR conditions will
prevail, but MVFR conditions are likely with stronger showers and
thunderstorms. Winds will be relatively light and variable based on
showers and thunderstorms.

MVFR ceilings are expected (60-80% confidence) to filter into KCOD,
KWRL, and KCPR overnight. Recent trends have decreased the chance
for MVFR ceilings at KJAC, KRIW, and KLND to around 20-30%, so
mention has been removed at these terminals while maintaining
FL035 groups. At KRKS and KCPR, gusty surface wind has been
quickly diminishing as sunset Tuesday approaches. Gusty
southerly surface wind between 15-30kts begin between 16Z-19Z
at KRKS, KPNA, and KLND as the pressure gradient tightens.
Scattered showers spread north across western Wyoming after
sunset Tuesday, with impacts possible at KJAC and KPNA as early
as 02Z and at KCOD around 04Z. Showers and a few thunderstorms
generally spread to all other terminals Wednesday afternoon.
However, confidence in direct impacts and timing is around 30%,
so PROB30 groups reflect shower/thunderstorm chances. MVFR
flight conditions could accompany any convection.

Main aviation concern overnight and through the morning hours on
Wednesday will be fog and low stratus east of the Laramie Range. IFR
conditions are expected for these terminals due to dense fog and low
CIGs. Fog and CIGs will slowly lift through the morning hours,
however, low stratus may linger across the northern Nebraska
panhandle through much of the day Wednesday. Another round of
scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday
evening and overnight.

Low clouds will move out of KMCK early this evening, leaving VFR
for the remainder of the TAF period at both KMCK and KGLD. Some
low level wind shear can be expected at KMCK through Wednesday
morning, but gusty surface winds at KGLD will mitigate the
shear. Both terminals will see gusty surface winds Wednesday
afternoon.

Showers and thunderstorms have been very sparse and isolated, and
confidence in the overnight coverage is fairly low, despite
forecast models insisting more development through the night.
Activity that does develop tonight will favor central New Mexico,
moving from south to north. Areas along and just east of the
central mountain chain will remain prone to low stratus and MVFR
to IFR ceilings with patchy fog also persisting through the
morning Wednesday. Most locations will hover near the 1000 ft
ceiling threshold between the IFR-MVFR category. However,
isolated pockets of dense fog, namely near KLVS, KCQC, and KSRR
will drop to the VLIFR category, shutting down airfields in 1/4
mile visibility and 200 ft ceilings. Low clouds and fog will be
stubborn to erode away through the late morning and early
afternoon Wednesday, but southerly winds are expected to increase
and assist with this effort with widespread gusts of 20-30 kt.
Showers and storms will be concentrated over north central New
Mexico with a couple of strong to severe storms expected with
hail, frequent lightning, and gusty downburst winds Wednesday
afternoon.
