A cool front was approaching from the north and will allow for
winds to become northerly in the next few hours. Winds by 18z
will shift to a more NE direction and then trend to easterly
by 21z. Still not sure about tstm development this aftn as initial
activity may stay to the south and southeast of the airports so
will keep prob30. Outflow boundaries may generate some activity
this evening thru 03z so have kept prob30 in until then. Winds
this evening will depend on which direction ouflow boundaries
come in from. For now have left them easterly and then going
more SE by 03z.

Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms expected across the
eastern plains this afternoon and evening, affecting KCOS and KPUB
terminals.
KCOS and KPUB: VFR conditions anticipated through 20z. SCT to BKN AC
cloud deck 050-100 likely through the morning, with VCSH potential.
Starting at around 20z introduce PROB30 for variable gusts to 40 kts
and -TSRA. Improving conditions after 03z.
KALS: VFR conditions over the next 24 hrs, with west winds
increasing and getting gusty to 24 kts between 21z-03z. VCTS may
need to be mentioned in same time frame with storms pushing in from
the east.

High level cloudiness is drifting over the CWA early this
morning and should slowly thin through the day. The main
concern through the early morning hours will be smoke from the
Lee fire that is filtering down into the Colorado and Roaring
Fork Valleys. Visibility will be impacted by this smoke at least
this morning and have placed in the KRIL TAF for now with a few
TEMPO groups at nearby sites. Otherwise winds over 25 mph will
be less widespread today and limited to the peak heating
hours...KMTJ...KGUC and KDRO have a least a 60 percent
probability of seeing this threshold.

the face of a northerly pressure gradient. Going forecast maintains
a switch to northerly surface winds at 17Z, but northerly winds
could become established as early as 14-16Z. Drainage (SSE) winds
expected to develop around 04Z this evening. Given the maintenance
of the northerly pressure gradient, periods of variable or even
northerly winds cannot be ruled out late Sunday night into Monday
morning, with the potential for another early northerly switch early
morning. Otherwise, VFR conditions expected with gradually thinning
high clouds by this afternoon.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions expected
through the period except in the vicinity of wildfires. Thick canopy
of high clouds across southern Utah will gradually thin throughout

VFR conditions prevail across all terminals throughout the TAF
period. Mid to high level cirrus may linger across some terminals
this morning but will gradually dissipate through the morning. Some
fair weather cumulus may develop this afternoon and gradually spread
east. Winds are expected to remain light ranging from 5 to 10 knots
with an occasion gust near 15 knots possible at times. A few
isolated virga showers may form nearby KCPR but models show these
being very sparse and likely missing the terminal. So at this time
any vicinity or PROB groups will be kept out of the TAF. Clouds
should dissipate in the late evening with many terminals seeing
SKC by the end of the TAF period.

Westerly flow aloft will become northwesterly on Sunday as an upper
level trough settles over the northern Front Range. Showers and
thunderstorms are expected to increase in coverage for most of
southeast Wyoming and central/southern Nebraska Panhandle Sunday
afternoon through early Sunday evening. Some fog is still possible
this morning for the eastern plains but chances are looking
rather low.
HAZARDS/WEATHER TRENDS: Some patchy fog and areas of low clouds
may still develop this morning. However, with the lack of
development overnight chances are looking rather slim for any
further development through the remainder of the morning. All
terminals other than KRWL will see showers and thunderstorms
developing in the afternoon hours and possibly linger into the
early evening. Brief MVFR to IFR VIS due to heavy rain and gusty
winds are possible with the activity between 19z Sunday and 00z
Monday. Kept PROB30 groups for these locations for now, but may
need to add prevailing and TEMPO groups for lines of
thunderstorms if model trends continue.

Localized IFR conditions are observed over southwest Nebraska this
morning, including the KLBF terminal. Over the next few hours,
conditions are expected to improve to MVFR, then to VFR. Across the
rest of western and north central Nebraska, VFR conditions are
expected to prevail today and tonight. Another round of showers and
thunderstorms are expected this evening and overnight, however,
guidance has struggled to agree on a consistent timing and coverage.
Will omit rain from TAFs for the time being, but could see addition
of rain and thunder after 00Z. Winds remain light today out of the
north and northeast, becoming light and variable this evening and
overnight.

For KGLD & KMCK... VFR conditions are forecast for most of the
period. The main issue that will make things tricky today is
that storms will be possible through most of the day until about
06-09Z. Most of the day will only have a 10% chance, but a more
organized line is forecast after 00Z. The current forecast has
been favoring pulling it south, which may cause it to miss KMCK.
Any prior convection could also interrupt the line, so look for
updates through the day. Otherwise, once the storms pass late
this evening, the main thing to watch for will be fog and low
clouds with saturated near surface conditions. Should fog or low
ceilings form, they would likely persist beyond 12Z.

late evening. Thunderstorms developing across the high plains of
eastern Colorado this afternoon are expected to spread eastward into
extreme western Kansas this evening, then farther east across southwest
Kansas into central Kansas overnight, potentially affecting all TAF
sites generally after 03-05Z with heavy rain and strong outflow winds.
Light east-northeast winds are expected through mid/late evening
just north of a stalled frontal boundary anchored from the Texas
Panhandle eastward through western Oklahoma.

VFR conditions are expected throughout the majority of the 12Z TAF
period at all TAF sites. The only exception would be PROB30 groups starting
around 03-09Z through to the end of the TAF period at all TAF
sites for TSRA potential. These thunderstorms could produce
erratic winds at TAF sites. Otherwise, winds will generally be out
of the north and northeast at 5-15 kts.

A moist backdoor front will produce a northeasterly wind shift as
it dives southwestward through east central and southeast parts of
the forecast area this morning. It will continue to trigger
scattered and gusty virga showers and isolated thunderstorms from
central to southeast parts of the forecast area until mid morning,
or so. The front is forecast to reach as far south as KROW and
KSRR around midday. The front and an upper level trough crossing
the region will produce scattered to numerous showers and
thunderstorms along and east of the central mountain chain this
afternoon and evening, some of which are likely to turn severe
with large hail and damaging winds. A few clusters of storms are
forecast to track eastward off the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and
across northeast areas this afternoon and evening. Scattered to
numerous showers and thunderstorms are also forecast to form over
the southwest mountains this afternoon, then move east
southeastward across the south central valleys during the late
afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, mainly isolated and gusty virga
showers and dry thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon and
early evening from Taos southward to Albuquerque, then from
Albuquerque westward along the I-40 corridor to the AZ border.
Some of the stronger virga showers and dry storms could produce
localized, brief, and erratic, dry microburst wind gusts up to 45
KT.
