.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Wednesday...Winds will increase on
Wednesday as lee troughing develops over the plains. Gusts between
40-50 mph will be possible over the eastern plains, and 35-40 mph
for South Park. While winds will be breezy, RH values are expected
to remain well above critical values. By the afternoon, scattered
showers and storms will be possible across the forecast area, with
a few becoming severe.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday night through Sunday...Our next
storm system arrives overnight Wednesday into Thursday, where snow
is expected for the mountains and showers/weak storms for the
plains. Temperatures will be cooler through Saturday before
ridging rebuilds across the west by the weekend. Under the
ridging, we are expecting above normal temperatures and drier
conditions to return for Sunday. Elevated fire weather concerns
will begin to develop over portions of the plains by Sunday
afternoon due to RH values dropping to the mid teens.
