Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
137 PM MDT Sat Oct 5 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR
MOST OF NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTHEAST COLORADO...FIRE WEATHER
ZONES 211 THROUGH 216...218...238 THROUGH 246...AND 248 THROUGH 251...

.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Sunday...
Critical fire conditions will continue through early this evening due
to low humidity and gusty winds. Winds should diminish by early
evening with a gradual increase in humidity levels overnight as a cool
front moves across the plains.

On Sunday, temperatures will be cooler with a slight increase in
humidity levels. Winds will be lighter in most areas. However,
across the Palmer Divide and east central plains, south winds will
increase by early afternoon with near critical fire conditions
possible through the afternoon hours.

Could see elevated to near critical fire weather conditions across
our Northern Plains near the Wyoming border Monday afternoon due
to gusty northwesterly winds, very low relative humidity and dry
fuels. For the remainder of the week, only pockets of elevated
fire weather conditions are expected due to lighter winds.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Sunday night through Thursday...

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
