.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Mostly sunny skies and dry
conditions will prevail again today. Relative humidities fall into
the teens for most of the area. Wind speeds will be a little less
today with gusts to around 20 mph or less across the plains The
higher foothills and mountains may see gusts of 25-30 mph.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Friday through Monday...
Near critical fire weather conditions are possible Friday afternoon
mainly for Lincoln county and the Palmer Divide. Relative humidities
drop to the lower teens. Southwesterly winds could produce wind
gusts up to 20 mph with localized areas reaching up to 25 mph
briefly. It is possible outflow winds from southeastern Colorado
thunderstorms could increase wind early evening Friday but relative
humidities should begin to recover during this period.
Wetting precipitation and cooler system arrives this weekend. Significant
precipitation amounts will be possible mainly for the plains, depending on the storm track
and evolution. Temperatures will drop below normal this weekend and
then stay below normal into early next week.
