Subject: Changes in Flood Categories for the Owyhee River at Owyhee Dam (OWYO3)

The changes will become effective on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

The National Weather Service intends to change the moderate and major flood
categories for the Owyhee River at Owyhee Dam. Because of this change, starting
on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, flood warnings, flood statements and flood advisories
will reference the new category levels as outlined below. This change is part of a
recent re-evaluation of the flood plain and flood impacts with local emergency
management and the irrigation district.

The new flood categories will be as follows:

1. New moderate flood category will be 8,000 CFS. The previous moderate flood
category was 6,000 CFS.

2. New major flood category will be 13,500 CFS. The previous major flood category
was 15,500 CFS.
