.PREV DISCUSSION...
SHORT TERM...Tonight through Thursday night...Southwest flow
aloft will bring warm and dry conditions to the region, with
temperatures about 5-15 degrees below normal. The Jakes Fire
in Northern Nevada will continue to loft smoke into the Magic
Valley, creating hazy skies this evening. Temperatures will warm
slightly tomorrow, ahead of a cold frontal passage on Thursday.
The front will move through Thursday afternoon, bringing gusty
winds, moderate cloud cover, and isolated showers and
thunderstorms over our Northern zones (Baker County-West Central
Mountains). Cooler temperatures will return after the frontal
passage, with Thursday seeing highs in the mid 80s in the
Treasure Valley (about 10 degrees below normal for early
August!). Winds will be highest in the Camas Prairie and Lower
Snake Plain, with afternoon gusts up to 35 mph.

LONG TERM...Friday through Tuesday...Dry, cooler (w/ temps around 10
degrees below normal) and breezy conditions are expected on Friday
behind a cold front and exiting trough. An upper ridge off the
Pacific Northwest coast will maintain a dry northwest flow across
the region into early next week. Temperatures trend warmer each day,
reaching near normal on Monday and Tuesday.
