Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
241 PM MDT Sat Oct 4 2025

.SHORT TERM...Tonight through Monday night...An upper level
trough will move to the East tonight, bringing lingering
showers over high terrain in the Central Mountains and the Magic
Valley through Sunday. Snow levels will drop to 6500 feet, with
minimal accumulations anticipated. Gusty winds across the
region will stay elevated through the evening, tapering off
after sunset. Cool northerly flow will continue tomorrow,
keeping temperatures about 5-10 degrees below normal.
Temperatures will dip in to the mid to upper 30s overnight on
Sunday into Monday, allowing for frosts in higher elevation
valleys. Conditions will dry out by Sunday afternoon, with an
upper level ridge beginning to build into the northwest on
Monday night. Patchy valley fog will occur overnight as well,
primarily in sheltered mountain valleys, with low stratus
forming in the Lower Snake River Valley likely by Monday
morning.

.LONG TERM...Tuesday through Saturday...The ridge of high
pressure will build into the region through the middle of the
week, with a warming and drying trend through Wednesday.
Temperatures will return to seasonal normals by Wednesday, with
a deepening trough moving inland elevating chances of
precipitation over Baker County and the West Central Mountains
by the evening. Uncertainty remains with significant model
disagreement on the path of a deep upper level low. Most
guidance brings precipitation with cooler temperatures into the
region by Saturday. If the low deepens considerably over our
region by the end of the week, snow levels will drop to nearly
5000 feet, bringing chances of snow to higher elevation valleys.
