...River Statement For The Cahaba River...

.Heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours and additional forecast
rainfall is expected to produce rises along the Cahaba River at
Centreville, Suttle, and Marion Junction. However, levels are
expected to remain below established flood stages, and any overflow
along the river should be of minor nature.


The Cahaba River at Suttle.
* At 8:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 6.4 feet.
* Action stage is 28 feet.
* Flood stage is 32 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 28.2 feet
  Wednesday evening.
* Impact...At 32 feet...Flooding of pasture lands and low-lying
  agricultural lands occurs in the Suttle area.


The Cahaba River at Centreville.
* At 8:15 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 2.8 feet.
* Action stage is 23 feet.
* Flood stage is 23 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage early
  tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 23.5 feet tomorrow evening. It
  will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening.
* Impact...At 23 feet...Pasture lands begin to flood in the
  Centreville area. The river walk next to the Commerce building and
  school is nearly completely flooded by this stage.


The Cahaba River at Marion Junction.
* At 8:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 5.8 feet.
* Action stage is 15 feet.
* Flood stage is 36 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 31.8 feet
  early Thursday morning.
* Impact...At 15 feet...Flooding around Oakmulgee Creek begins and
  cattle need to be moved to higher ground. Overflow of pasture lands
  increases at stages above 20 feet.


Another statement will be issued by Monday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.
