...River Statement For The Alabama River...

.Heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours is producing rises on the
Alabama River. However, levels are expected to remain below
established flood stages, and any overflow along the river should be
of minor nature.


The Alabama River at Montgomery.
* At 8:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 26.4 feet.
* Action stage is 26.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 35.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 23.5 feet Monday
  morning.
* Impact...At 26.0 feet...Some flooding of low lying areas and
  secondary roads begins in the Montgomery area. Flooding of the golf
  course at Maxwell Air Force Base and portions of River Road occurs
  at stages around 30 feet and higher.


The Alabama River at Selma.
* At 8:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 29.0 feet.
* Action stage is 30.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 45.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to fall to 23.2 feet Monday
  morning.
* Impact...At 30.0 feet...Pasture lands below Selma become flooded.


Another statement will be issued by Thursday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
