...River Statement For The Tombigbee River...

.Heavy rainfall over the weekend is producing rises on the Tombigbee
River. However, levels are expected to remain below established flood
stages, and any overflow along the river should be of minor nature.


The Tombigbee River at Bevill Lock and Dam.
* At 8:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 117.8 feet.
* Action stage is 122.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 122.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 121.8 feet
  tomorrow evening.
* Impact...At 122.0 feet...Cattle in low-lying areas of Southern
  Pickens County should be moved to higher ground. Cattle are cutoff
  in lowlands of Southern Pickens County at stages above 122 feet.

Another statement will be issued by Tuesday morning, or sooner if
conditions warrant.

Please stay tuned to NOAA Weather radio or your local media for later
statements concerning this event.

It is emphasized that these forecasts are based on rainfall that has
already occurred and on additional rainfall expected during the next
48 hours.  If more rainfall than is currently forecast occurs it may
become necessary to revise these forecasts upward.
