150 FXUS64 KBMX 241727 AFDBMX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Birmingham AL 1227 PM CDT Sun Aug 24 2025 ...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM, AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Monday) Issued at 1216 PM CDT SUN AUG 24 2025 The first cold front should begin working through the region by tonight, with some of our northern zones dropping into the low-60s. However, the real drop in temperatures will begin tomorrow night, and into the long-term. Rain chances will finally begin to diminish as well, as this first cold front removes a lot of the moisture from the region. Until the cooler weather in the long-term, look for afternoon highs on Monday to range in the low to upper-80s. /44/ && .LONG TERM... (Monday night through next Saturday) Issued at 1216 PM CDT SUN AUG 24 2025 The start of the cooler temperatures is finally here, as highs on Tuesday will only range in the upper-70s to mid-80s. There is a least a small change for some showers here, as the second reinforcing cold front moves through the region on Wednesday. Well below average temperatures will linger into the weekend, with the region remaining mostly dry as well. However, rain chances may increase into the weekend, as another front may work its way into the region. /44/ && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1216 PM CDT SUN AUG 24 2025 Thunderstorms will remain possible through the afternoon, before diminishing closer to 24/00z. Beyond that, a cold front will begin to move through the region tonight, allowing for things to dry out. Some reduced VIS will be possible past 24/06z, but confidence was not high enough to introduce it at this time. Therefor, VFR conditions will be anticipated past 24/00z NOTE: AMD NOT SKED has been added at TCL until further notice due to comms issues. /44/ && .FIRE WEATHER... Fire weather concerns remain little to none, as one more day of scattered storms is expected. By tomorrow, the cold front we`ve been advertising finally pushes through the region, dropping MinRH values into the 30-40% range. MinRH values should linger here into next weekend, before moisture begins to work back into the region. Rain chances also return to the forecast by next weekend, but widespread rainfall is not anticipated at this time. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
