(Today through Friday) Issued at 347 AM CDT THU OCT 10 2024 High pressure will continue to build over the area through Friday. Eventually centered over the Appalachians. Winds will be around 15 mph this afternoon from the northeast, as the gradient remains strong between Milton and the high pressure. As Milton slides further east and the high pressure slides south, the winds will decrease to less than 10 mph on Friday. Skies should be clear for most of the time. 16 && .LONG TERM... (Friday night through Wednesday) Issued at 347 AM CDT THU OCT 10 2024 High pressure will be centered over the region Friday night and Saturday with residual dry air in place. Conditions will be favorable for strong radiational cooling with lows in the mid 40s to lower 50s Saturday morning. The transition to warmer westerly winds will bring an uptrend in temperatures with most locations reaching the low to mid 80s during the afternoon. Even warmer conditions are expected on Sunday as low-level westerly flow strengthens ahead of an approaching front. Temperatures in some of our central and western counties could reach the upper 80s Sunday afternoon. Ahead of the cold front on Monday, temperatures could spike into the mid to upper 80s across our southern counties, with 70s across the north. This will be a potent frontal passage, and secondary significant shot of cold air from Canada is expected to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday as a full-latitude trough axis swings across the eastern CONUS. Lows in the upper 30s appear possible with this airmass in our northern counties. 87/Grantham && .AVIATION...
