A weak cold front will also move across the western Dakotas today, and into Minnesota by Tuesday. These weather features will bring scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to the Northern Plains today and tonight. Severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds are possible this afternoon and evening in the Dakotas. Highs today will range from the lower 70s in Minnesota and the eastern Dakotas, to the 80s in western South Dakota. The forecast from Tuesday through Friday calls for highs mainly in the 70s and 80s. These temperatures will be near to slightly below normal for early July. Low to medium chances of showers and thunderstorms exist most days, but there is a high probability of precipitation on Independence Day across most of the region. $$ CJS
