...Elevated fire weather conditions for Wednesday, primarily west
of the Mississippi River...

.DISCUSSION...Increasing surface winds of 20-25 mph, low minimum
RHs of 20 to 25%, and dry fuels due to lack of rainfall will set
the stage for elevated fire weather concerns throughout the
afternoon hours on Wednesday. Heading into Wednesday afternoon,
winds will increase from the southwest with a tightening surface
pressure gradient. While mixing heights will be fairly low, a dry
layer with fairly strong winds at the top of this mixed layer will
be the source of higher wind gusts of up to 35 mph across
portions of northeast IA and southeast MN. Smoke dispersal will be
good to excellent regardless of low mixing heights with transport
winds being fairly strong. Conditions will improve by the late
evening hours with an approaching front which will decrease winds
shift them from southwesterly to north/northwesterly.

Minimal precipitation chances are expected through the next few
days (under 20% chance) with any rainfall amounts that do manifest
being very light. Temperatures will fluctuate between the 60s and
70s for the late week and weekend with a fairly progressive
weather pattern unfolding.
