Fire Weather Planning Forecast for northern Lower Michigan
National Weather Service Gaylord MI
350 AM EDT Fri Oct 17 2025

...Showers Taper into the Afternoon; More Rain this Weekend...

.DISCUSSION... A disturbance will move past the area this
afternoon, but until that occurs, northern Michigan will contend
with a period of welcome rain shower activity that will bring
light rainfall amounts to the region. As such, RH values will
remain quite elevated through the day, perhaps reaching into the
upper 40s across the interior into the late afternoon hours as we
embark on a brief dry period. High temps today top out anywhere
from 60 to 70. Winds will switch to a steady southerly flow
through the day... and it will be a bit on the breezy side.
Anticipating sustained winds balloon to 10-15mph by the afternoon,
with a few 25mph+ gusts not out of the question. Looking ahead,
multiple rain chances will be present throughout the forecast...
as a cold front stalls out overhead, bringing a concentrated
corridor of showers and perhaps some thunder later tonight.
Locally heavy rain will be possible into Saturday. A strengthening
area of low pressure then lifts into the Great Lakes late Saturday
night into Sunday, bringing another round of showers with it.
