Total snow accumulations between 4 and 12 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Areas of blowing snow. * WHERE...Hamilton and Northern Herkimer Counties. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 1 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact travel. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The lake effect snow band will set up across areas along and north of Route 28 late this afternoon into this evening before slowly dropping southward tonight into Friday morning. Additional upslope snow showers will continue through Friday afternoon before tapering off Friday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly.
