Fire Weather Planning Forecast For CEN/ERN VA...NE NC...MD ERN SHORE
National Weather Service WAKEFIELD VA
326 PM EDT Sun Mar 9 2025

.DISCUSSION...

...ELEVATED THREAT FOR FIRE SPREAD THROUGH EARLY THIS EVENING ACROSS
THE LOWER MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE...

There is an elevated risk for fire spread into early evening across
the MD Eastern Shore where relative humidity values ~30% and
winds gusting to 20 to 25 mph. Otherwise, dry with lighter W to
SW winds, diminishing tonight.

Remaining dry on Monday with min RH values dropping to 25 to 35
percent inland, with 35 to 45 percent along the coast, and also
over North Carolina. Winds will be lighter on Monday, taking on an
onshore component by afternoon. Low pressure slowly slides off
the southeast coast Monday night bringing the potential for light
rain showers, mainly in North Carolina. Mainly light and variable
winds are expected Tuesday, with warmer temperatures inland. A
backdoor cold front brings northerly winds early Wednesday,
shifting onshore later in the day.
