...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1215 AM EDT FRIDAY...
...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Virginia, including the following
  independent cities, City of Chesapeake, City of Norfolk and City
  of Virginia Beach.

* WHEN...Until 1215 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 917 PM EDT, the public reported heavy rain in the warned
    area due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
    begin shortly. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Virginia Beach, Kempsville, Regent University, Virginia
    Wesleyan University, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Princess Anne,
    Norfolk International, Princess Anne Plaza, Gallups Corner,
    London Bridge, Oceana NAS, Bayside, Oceana, Macons Corner,
    Mount Pleasant, Greenbrier, Pungo, Rudee Heights and North
    Virginia Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
