...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central Virginia, including the following
  counties and independent city, Chesterfield, City of Richmond and
  Henrico.

* WHEN...Until 630 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 354 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. This will
    cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch
    of rain has fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected
    over the area through 445 AM.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, Downtown
    Richmond, Virginia Union University, Highland Springs,
    University Of Richmond, Bon Air, Mechanicsville, Chester,
    Tuckahoe, Bensley, East Highland Park, Bellwood, Lakeside,
    Richmond Heights, Montrose, Drewrys Bluff, Varina, Fair Oaks
    and Dumbarton.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when
water begins rising.
