.DISCUSSION...Difficult conditions still exist in and around the
incident area this morning. Winds and seas around Pt Couverden have
diminished compared to this time yesterday, but Rocky Island is still
reporting NE winds around 30 kt with gusts to 43 kt so seas are likely
around 5 to 6 ft. Southern Lynn Canal is still blowing 25 kt out of the
north while the Sister`s Island has an E wind at 15 kt. Winds and seas
in southern Lynn should gradually diminish into tonight (down to 20 kt)
while Icy Strait will likely stay mostly constant through the day.

For precipitation in the area, freezing rain, sleet, and snow have all
been observed around Juneau, Hoonah, and Gustavus this morning with
visibilities around 2 to 3 miles and ceilings down to 800 ft at times
(but as high as 3000 ft). A change over to all rain is expected, and a
corresponding warm up above freezing, through the day. Rain is then
expected to persist through Tuesday at least with a brief break in
higher precip rates tonight before becoming heavier again Tuesday.
Visibilities and ceilings are expected to stay somewhat low around 3
miles or less with snow and sleet still in the area this morning.
Visibilities will likely improve to 3 to 5 miles as areas transition
into all rain, and are expected to vary around those numbers as rain
rates rise and fall. Ceilings mostly expected to stay around 1500 to
3000 ft for the most part, through some periods of lower conditions are
possible.
