.DISCUSSION...
A cold front will move down into the southern Interior and Yukon
Uplands today. Gusty west-northwest winds are occurring behind
this front. Widespread wetting rains are expected along and behind
the front. Rains continue into Thursday as the disturbance aloft
finally moves through. Cooler temperatures and higher humidities
will occur today through Thursday. The cooler wetter weather should
aid wildfire fighting efforts. Drier air returns by Friday as a high
pressure center develops over the northern Interior/Central Brooks
Range. Temperatures warm to more normal levels this weekend and
humidities will fall once again. Fire activity will increase again
and holdovers will crop up. The wind and rain should help to improve
the smoky conditions this week.
