.DISCUSSION...Hot and dry today with today being the warmest
and driest day before a slow cooling trend begins. Isolated
wet thunder today will be more prevalent and will include the
Tanana Valley, with widely scattered to scattered wet thunderstorms
over the Fortymile Uplands and SE Interior. Monday sees
low level winds becoming westerly with more isolated to widely
scattered wet thunderstorms, and possibly a few strong storms
into the valleys with the northwest steering flow.
By Tue, temps
are falling closer to seasonal norms with west winds to 10 mph.
There will be critical fire weather conditions possible over
the N Interior where temps are still in the low 80s and upper
70s, winds are around 15 mph, and min RH around the upper 20
percent range. The Yukon Flats will likely be close to reaching
criteria.
Major pattern shift begins Wed as the upper ridge breaks
down and a strong front moves into the NW Arctic and shifts east
through the week, bringing potential wetting rains and much cooler
temps, although strong southwest winds may create some critical
fire weather conditions prior to that. High chance for wetting
rains for most of the Interior starts the 4th of July and continues
through the weekend.
