.FORECAST ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION...
Remnant energy from a low in the arctic is moving across the
Interior today bringing showers and storms once again.
Temperatures will remain in the 60s and 70s, but gradually warm
tomorrow and Thursday as transient ridging moves in from the south.
By Wednesday evening, a low moving towards the AK Peninsula from
the Northern Pacific will interact with ridging over the Eastern
Pacific and Eastern AK. This will bring gap winds to the AK Range
Passes. They won`t be anything too dramatic but may be upwards of
50 mph at times on Thursday, especially in Isabel Pass. This same
low will bring more widespread rain to the West Coast and Western
Interior. The energy from this low will eventually meet up with a
digging trough this weekend, this will bring much cooler
temperatures and more widespread rain to the coast and Interior
this weekend.

&&

.FIRE WEATHER...
Warmer and drier weather in the Interior tomorrow and Thursday
with highs in the mid 70s. Min RHs will be dropping with most
spots around 35-45%, but the upper Tanana Valley will drop to
25-30%. Thursday will be drier with the southern Yukon Flats and
Upper Tanana Valley RHs as low as 20-25%. Otherwise, a pattern
change hits on Friday with temperatures dropping into the 60s.
There will be much higher rain chances as a trough then dips into
Western Alaska this weekend. Looking into next week, it looks
cooler and wetter overall with little to no significant fire
weather danger.

&&

.HYDROLOGY...
No flooding concerns at this time. The only thing of note are
rises on creeks and streams from showers and storms which may
overtop gravel bars.

&&

.EXTENDED FORECAST DAYS 4-7...
During the extended time frame, the story will be of cooler and
wetter weather. On Friday/D4, a trough aloft will dip south into
the Bering Sea while gradually shifting east. This will coincide
with another trough/upper low over the AK Peninsula shifting to
the north and slinging plentiful moisture into the western part of
the state. This will yield showers in the area, which will
increase in coverage significantly during the evening and
overnight hours. A few spots in the Middle Yukon Valley and
vicinity could see rain totals over half an inch. Moving into
Saturday and Sunday, the low from the AK Pen will degenerate while
the trough over the Bering Sea intensifies into more of a closed
system, bringing additional rainfall to Western Alaska, with
lesser totals from sparser showers in the Central and Eastern
Interior. From Monday onward, there is lower confidence on some of
the exact features, but low pressure/troughing is likely to
expand east and will yield the potential for a few tenths of an
inch of rainfall in parts of the Central and Eastern Interior.
