.FORECAST ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION...
Ex-Typhoon Halong continues to move northeast out of the state and
was positioned over the North Slope as of early Monday morning. It
is expected to quickly move east-northeast into the Beaufort Sea
and onwards into Canada today while simultaneously quickly
weakening. This allows the strong winds and high waters of the
storm to diminish rapidly Monday morning from the southwest at the
earliest and to the northeast at the latest.

Another strong low moves out of the North Pacific and along the
Aleutians towards southern Alaska Tuesday through Wednesday, but
is weaker and less organized than previous storms. It`s most
likely impact will be widespread precipitation across the state
with some breezy northeast winds through the Interior. Given how
quickly this system becomes disorganized once it reaches the
Alaskan Peninsula, its exact impacts are difficult to gauge, but
generally low impact weather is currently expected.

.EXTENDED FORECAST DAYS 4-7...
At the start of the extended forecast period, Wednesday night,
another low pressure system will have moved east across the
Aleutians and into southern Alaska. This is expected to bring
substantial moisture across the state as the low slowly moves
north through the end of the week. This low loses most of its
organization as it moves north and thus winds are not expected to
be very noteworthy. It will be quite wet however and large areas
of light rain are expected with snow at higher elevations.

Over the weekend there is a chance for another strong low pressure
system to move out of the North Pacific towards the Aleutians, but
confidence is still low in the strength and position of this low.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...
A low pressure system lifts north along the West Coast Wednesday
through Friday with moderate westerly winds developing on the
south side of this system. There is a chance for high surf in the
YK Delta Wednesday night that gradually shifts north into the
Norton Sound by Thursday night.
