...STRONG STORM IN THE GULF EARLY NEXT WEEK...

Confidence is increasing in the arrival of a deep low in the Gulf
of Alaska early next week. We are anticipating a 940 to 960 mb
low to move into the southern Gulf by Monday afternoon, with a
broad wind field of storm force winds encompassing much of the
Gulf. Gusts to hurricane force will be possible along with
potential seas of 35 feet or higher in the Gulf offshore zones.

At this time, there is less certainty in the exact track of the
low, which will determine the impact level for nearshore Gulf
coastal waters and Kodiak Island waters. Winds could range
anywhere from 30 kts to 65 kts, depending on the storm track.
Regardless, there is high confidence in the low`s timing and
overall intensity. Unsettled conditions will persist into Tuesday
morning as the low gradually shifts eastward toward Southeast
Alaska.

Stay tuned to the latest forecasts and visit for weather.gov/afc
